Peninsula may be a tiny river town, but its dining scene punches well above its weight class, and I’ve got the stretchy pants to prove it. You can chase a forty-minute wait for a colossal Brandy Burger at Teschner’s, then pivot to A5 Wagyu at Ken Stewart’s Lodge without leaving the zip code.

That’s the magic here—the same streets hold a dive bar’s gourmet surprises and a fish grotto with views that rival anywhere on the continent. I’ve eaten my way through it all, from the lobster mac at DANSPOT to the shrimp and grits at Russo’s, and the fire pit at Peninsula Coffee House is still my favorite spot to recover.

I wandered into the Peninsula Coffee House and Market on a crisp afternoon, and I’m not sure I’ve ever felt more instantly at home. The owner greeted me like an old friend, and the staff seemed genuinely delighted to see me. I grabbed a seasonal drink and settled by the fire pit, watching the river roll by. Board games were stacked nearby, and I noticed the trail access just outside. Trivia night sounded like a riot. The wine cellar is a quiet surprise. It’s a little slice of easy-going charm. I could have stayed all day.
