I started my quest at the River Merchant, lured by the promise of a riverside patio, and I was not disappointed. The prime rib cheesesteak arrived gloriously messy, its beefy richness amplified by the soft, yielding roll. But the real revelation was the orange phyllo cake, a confection of shattering layers and bright, sunlit citrus that left me scraping the plate. Service hovered with genuine attentiveness, never intrusive, always anticipating the next need. The dining space felt polished and cared for, a calm, clean stage for the meal. A lovely opening act for my tour of Kent.

The room buzzes with familiar laughter and the clink of glasses. Generous portions, a perpetually friendly staff, and that golden consistency. It's easy to see why this place is cherished.

Blind Squirrel Pub is a fantastic reminder that a good renovation can rejuvenate a space without stripping its soul. The bar area is a genuine work of art, polished and inviting, and the entire room feels fresh and lively. But I was here for the Polish wrap, an exceptional creation that was generously stuffed and simply bursting with flavor, elevated further by the fabulous house ranch, which deserves its own fan club. The menu offers impressive variety, and our quick, friendly service kept the good times rolling. You can tell this place knows its audience. A solid, comfortable choice for a great meal and a better beer.
