Let me start with a confession: I ate a concerning number of wings in Boardman, and I'd do it again. We don't need Buffalo when we've got South Avenue traffic jams and a wing joint every other block.

The spread here runs from Royal Oaks, where the house-made BBQ sauces deserve a loyalty oath, to Jojo's Thai Kitchen, which tosses wings in chili sauce that will politely slap you awake. I hit every stop on this list so you don't have to.

That's a lot of wings. Grab a stack of napkins and dive in.

Attentive, friendly table service
Calamari and prime rib worth the drive

Blue Wolf Tavern is where I go when I want my steak to feel like a hug from a lumberjack. The seared, crusted cuts are done right, and the quiet, lodge-like dining room makes you want to whisper your order. Those warm rolls with herb butter? I'd fight a bear for another basket. Service was attentive without hovering, which is basically a unicorn these days. The calamari and prime rib are worth the drive, but honestly, I came for the wings. They're not the star here, but they're solid enough to keep you company while you plot your next steak. Just don't tell the steak I said that.

Unique tropical interior vibe
Phenomenal blackened mahi bites
Bella's standout customer service
Grand slam Krakatoa Burger
Excellent fried sides selection

Krakatoa feels like someone spilled a tropical vacation all over a bar, and I'm not mad about it. The blackened mahi bites are phenomenal, and Bella took care of us like we were old friends. You'll want the grand slam Krakatoa Burger, but save room for the fried sides, because they nailed that lineup too. Now, the wings. They're decent, not transcendent, but the funky vibe and that stellar service make up for a lot. I'd come back for the atmosphere alone, but the food gives me a real excuse. Just be ready for the volcano theme to follow you to the bathroom.

Double Bogey's is massive, like someone took a bar and inflated it to twice its normal size. The staff is friendly, and the thirty-two drafts pull local beers like a charm. The Cajun chicken sandwich is a killer, and the fresh blue cheese dressing is a game changer for wings. And let me tell you about those wings. They're crispy, saucy, and come with that dressing that makes you want to lick the plate. I won't judge if you do. It's worth a second shot, especially if you missed your first. Big space, big flavors, and a big reason to come back.

Stonebridge Grille & Tavern is the kind of place where the service makes you feel like royalty, but the prices don't require a crown. The wagyu beef is worth every extra dollar, and the bread and pasta are legitimately delicious. They've got ample parking and a clean space, which is more than I can say for some dives I love. The wings here are a solid choice, cooked well and sauced generously. Great value for the quality, honestly. I left full and happy, which is the highest compliment I can give any restaurant. I'll be back.

Owner's passion shows in food

Savannah Joe's is soul food heaven, and the owner's passion is so thick you could spread it on toast. The burgers rival the best I've had, and the wings? They're a sleeper hit. Crispy, juicy, and slathered in a sauce that made me want to write a thank-you note. The dining room is clean and comfortable, and the service is welcoming from the moment you walk in. I came for the wings but stayed for the mac and cheese, and now I'm ruined for all other mac and cheese. This place is worth the trip, and I mean that sincerely.

True neighborhood corner bar
Big portions, family-friendly vibe

Royal Oaks is the true neighborhood corner bar, the kind of place where everyone knows your name and the wings are the main event. Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and those house-made BBQ sauces are killers. I tried all of them, and I couldn't pick a favorite, so I ordered more wings. The wait staff is friendly, and the portions are big enough to share, though you won't want to. Family-friendly vibe, but I saw a few folks who clearly came for the wings and nothing else. I respect that. This is a must-stop.

Amazing, consistent food

Shrimp Po' Boy is a must-try
Crispy, tender, dynamite sauce

Shaffer's Deli has the best Cuban sandwich around, and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. The shrimp po' boy is a must-try, and everything is consistently amazing. The owners are sweet and welcoming, which makes the whole experience feel like eating at a friend's house. The wings, though? Crispy, tender, and that dynamite sauce is exactly what it claims to be. I've had a lot of wing sauces, and this one stands out. It's sweet, spicy, and addictive. I ordered extra just to have leftovers, and I don't regret a single bite.

Huge, share-worthy portions
Pad Thai that hits hard
Super friendly owner
Thai iced tea obsession
Worth the random stop

Jojo's Thai Kitchen is a random stop that turned into an obsession. The pad Thai hits hard, and the portions are huge, so bring a friend or a very hungry self. The owner is super friendly, and the Thai iced tea is dangerously good. I could drink three and call it dinner. The wings here are a pleasant surprise, tossed in a Thai chili sauce that packs some heat. They're not the classic American style, but they're better for it. Worth the detour, and I'll be back for those wings and that tea.

Corrected earlier order mistakes

Bulldogs Bar & Grill is the spot for private parties, and the staff is organized and attentive, which is rare in a place that hosts events. They even corrected earlier order mistakes without me having to throw a fit, which earns major points. The food is really good, and the wings are no exception. They came out hot, crispy, and exactly what I needed after a long day. The event space is solid, and the service makes you feel taken care of. If you're planning something, this is a safe bet. I'd happily come back for a casual night too.

Smash burgers are genuinely fantastic
Impossible burger tastes like meat
Great service at fair prices
Zucchini fries need thicker cuts
Worth returning for cheeseburgers

Sespe Burger is all about the smash burgers, and let me tell you, they're genuinely fantastic. The Impossible burger tastes like real meat, which is a compliment in my book. The zucchini fries need thicker cuts because they got a little floppy, but the flavor is there. Service is great, and the prices are fair. Now, the wings. They're not the main event here, but they're a decent sidekick. Crispy, saucy, and satisfying. I'd come back for the cheeseburgers, but the wings won't disappoint if you're in the mood. Just order extra napkins.

Killer prime rib Sundays
Best onion rings ever
Beautiful patio and bar
Fantastic Italian beef special
Great service, classy vibe

Bogey's has a classy vibe that made me feel like I should've worn a tie, but then I ordered wings and everything was forgiven. The prime rib Sundays are killer, and the Italian beef special is fantastic, but the real reason I keep coming back is the onion rings. Best I've ever had, and I've eaten a lot of onion rings. The patio and bar are beautiful, and the service is great. My wings arrived crispy and saucy, a solid effort that fits right in with the rest of the menu. If you're looking for a place to feel fancy while eating with your hands, this is it.

Highlights
Avoid the fundraiser pepperoni rolls
Bland bread with barely any filling
Even garlic cheese disappoints
Proceed with extreme caution
Only positives are charitable

I want to be charitable, so here it is: the fundraiser pepperoni rolls are for a good cause. That's the only positive. The bread was bland, and the filling barely existed. I'm pretty sure I saw a ghost pepper roll with more personality. Even the garlic cheese disappointed, which takes real effort. Proceed with extreme caution, people. I tried the wings, hoping for a miracle. No such luck. They were sad, soggy things that made me question my life choices. If you value your taste buds, skip this stop and hit literally anywhere else on this list. Your stomach will thank you.
